The book titled Mera Safar (My Journey) an autobiography
of the late Congress veteran Gaddam Venkatswamy, popularly known as ‘Kaka’ released
on his 86th birth anniversary.
Union Minister Badaru Dattatreya released the book
while Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao unveiled a bronze statue of late Venkatswamy near
Tank Bund in Hyderabad.
The book traces Venkatswamy’s life, from being a construction
worker, migration to Ramagundam, Karimnagar, in search of work from Hyderabad,
his rise as a trade union leader, participation in the statehood agitation and
his role in securing the alliance between the TRS and the Congress in 2004.
He rose to
becoming the Union textile minister, apart from serving in thte united AP
Cabinet.
