ACB raids reveal irregularities

The raids conducted on BC welfare hostels in six districts at a time by the officials of the Anti corruption bureau (ACB) has exposed the huge malpractices and corruption at these institutions. It was found that there is no match between stock registers and student strength.

Stocks of expired food items were found in the stockroom. The ACB personnel had raided BC welfare hostel in Kubeer in Adilabad district along similar facilities at five other districts in the state on Tuesday. The raids lasted from early morning till evening.  

The state government had asked the ACB to check whether fine quality rice supplied to the hostels are being properly used or diverted to black market.

ACB Adilabad DSP Papalal said, that ‘they found attendance of 60 students mentioned in the register while only 14 students were present when they inspected the hostel. The number of students had been tampered and inflated.   

He said tamarind, ravva, milk powder, ragi malt, turmeric powder and biscuits were found with expiry dates. He added that blankets and notebooks had not been given to the students. It was also found that warden not paying the cosmetic charges to the students.  

‘We will submit a report to the collector and request him to take steps for the installation of biometric machines for the attendance of the students and staff in all the government hostels to curb the corruption and irregularities’, Papalal said.  Students complained to the ACB officials about poor quality food served.   

The ACB personnel also found that staff were not maintaining cash, visitors and record books in the hostel during their inspection and hostel warden Jadhav Prakash was not staying at the hostel and was irregular to the duties. ACB officials seized stock records and collected samples to send to the lab for examination to ascertain their quality. 

Mushaira sums up mood

The Halaath –E- Hazira (prevailing conditions in the country) including ‘growing intolerance’, escalated prices of essential commodities, changing trends among the youth, corruption, life of common man reflected in the poetry recited by the renowned poets of the country.

The poets touched upon all the prevailing social, economical and political happenings in the country.  

One of the poets said ‘Nobody can vacate their home’ claiming that India is their home land’ as a message to the people of this country from the Mushaira. 

Political mood prevailing in the country reflected at the 12^th   All India Mushaira held at Adilabad on Monday night. 

Poets from across country, many of whom have performed in overseas events participated in the Mushaira that ended just before the dawn.

Renowned poets recited couplets reflecting current issues and social evils haunting the society.

Majority of the poems recited by the poets reflected the political mood prevailing in the country as they responded in their own way to the ‘growing intolerance’ in the country and commented on the prevailing political situation.

Noori Azeezi in her poem expressed concern over escalated prices of essential commodities and explained how they hit the common man and questioned how poor can afford dal being sold at Rs 200 per kg and also increased prices of train tickets.

Senior poets compared the old and new traditions they experienced in their life. 

Minister for forest and environment Jogu Ramanna was on the dais when a poet was reciting a poem on the growing corruption among the political leaders and how much greedy political leaders are for Kursi (power) leaving common to their fate.       

Nayeem Akthar Khadri, Burhanpur of Uttar Pradesh, Noori Azeezi of Jalna and Jameel Saher of Malegaon of Maharashtra, Gazi Salauddin, Jameel Nizambadi, Ashwaq Asfi and Eqbal Ahmed of Nizamabad, Riyaz  Tanha, Tasleem Johar and Sulthan Shutari of Hyderabad participated in Mushaira.

The Mushaira enthralled the poetry lovers. Fayaz Shama is the convernor of JAWA (Jeevandhan Association for Welfare activities) which organized the event.

Prove graft, will quit : KTR

Panchayat Raj and IT Minister K. T. Ramarao said he would quit the politics if the Congress leaders proved that there was corruption in the Telangana Water Grid (TWG) scheme.

He was responding to the allegations made by the Congress leaders during Rythu Barossa yatra in Adilabad.

Addressing a public meeting here two days ago in Madegoan village in Dilwarpur madnal after unveiling a pylon of the Water Grid, Ramarao said state government had taken up the Water Grid at a cost of Rs 35,000 crore.

The money was mobilized from various banks and sources but Central has not given a single rupee for the scheme.

He said the government working to bring such development in 60 months that was not done by previous congress governments in the past 60 years. He ridiculed Congress leaders for asking whether the Water Grid had a detailed project report (DPR) and asked whether any bank would lend crores of rupees without going through the DPR.

Ramarao recalled that people had reposed confidence in K. Chandrasekhar Rao and voted the TRS to power even though he had promised to waive crop loan worth Rs 1 lakh against Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi’s offer to clear twice that sum.

He said that the Water Grid comprises 1.25 lakh km. The project would provide safe drinking water through taps in the colonies in Nirmal municipality in another 15 months. Rama Rao inspected the construction works of intake well at Velmal village in Nirmal mandal.
