Politicos go online to boost'19 chances

Candidates who were defeated in the previous elections, and those who are aspiring to receive a ticket, have launched a war of words on social networking sites in preparation for next elections.

Most sitting MLAs and Ministers have also launched their campaigns. They are posting information on the contribution that they have made to the welfare and development of their respective constituencies, along with the figures and graphics.

Meanwhile, defeated candidates have been trying to  highlight the inadequacies , failings and unfulfilled promised of the MLAs.

The social networking sites may play an important role in the election campaign, with the candidates showing an interest in reaching out to the youth and educated class.

Political leaders have created Facebook pages, and they regularly post updates regarding their activities.

Some Ministers have appointed PROs to post updates to the  media and on social media on their behalf. Some leaders have even- thrown parties for the media persons, to ensure that no damaging news about them appears in the media.

Alleti Maheshwar Reddy, the president of the Adilabad District Congress Committee and a former MLA, has been posting on Nirmal DCC Facebook page, to  promote himself and challenge his opponent Allola Indrakaran Reddy.

Supporters of  Jogu Ramanna, minister for forest and environment, regularly post details of the development works  carried out in the Adilabad Assembly Constituency over the past three years, the long- pending Korata Chanaka barrage works that have finally been taken up, and the strengthening of canals under the Satnala irrigation project.

Adilabad Municipal Council Floor leader Bandari Satish of TRS said it was the fact the social networking sites are playing a crucial role in spreading the information across all the sections especially youth and educated unlike in the past and it was easy to get publicity for the activities and reaching out to the voters without any cost.

He said even one can get feedback on the information posted through responses and political leaders could improve their performance with the feed back.

ATA conducts eye medical camp

American Telugu Association (ATA) has conducted an eye medical camp in the interior Waghapur village in Adilabad mandal and medical experts treated 300 people at the camp on Tuesday.

Free medicines distributed to the patients and cataract operations will be conducted to the needy free of cost and spectacles will be given on behalf of Association.     

Minister Jogu Ramanna inaugurated the one –day eye medical camp. The doctors advised cataract operations for 30 patients and spectacle for 170 out of total 300 those were treated at the medical camp.

Karunakar Asireddy, President Elect, American Telugu Association (ATA) and Regional Director Anil Boddireddy of Association and others supervised the camp. A team of doctors performed the tests.

Nearly 300 people came from Palli, Kolamguda, Peddapalli, Chinnapalli, Laxmipur, Vaizapur and Waghapur treated at the free eye medical camp. Thammala Linganna,80 of Waghapur said he was tested and advised him to go for cataract operation locally. The Association is conducting free medical camps in all districts in Telangana and four districts in Andhra Pradesh.        

Play active role in Grama Jyoti, Ministers tell villagers

Minister or forest and environment Jogu Ramanna said the state government was encouraging the people through Grama Jyoti to create development works which can be done through ‘Shramadanam’ by the villagers instead of spending funds.

He elaborated that there were many works which can be done with Shramadanam like laying gravel roads, sanitation and eradication of open defecation, planting trees and filling the ditches and patching the potholes on the roads.

While attending an awareness meeting on the scheme to the elected public representatives of local bodies and MLAs in Adilabad, Jogu Ramanna said people should not think that they shelved the ‘Mana Vooru Mana  Pranalika’ programme.

He added that Grama Jyoti to be implemented based on the data collected through Mana Vooru Mana Pranalika only and Grama Jyoti was extension to it.

Endowments Minister Allola Indrakaran Reddy said that Adilabad district will get Rs 2,413 crore funds in four years under Grama Jyoti for the development of the works in villages.

He appealed to the people to actively take part in the Grama Jyoti programme to be held from August 17 to 23 and added that officials and elected public representatives would stay during night in the villages for three days that is August 19 to 21 during progamme.

Indrakaran Reddy said works passed by Grama Sabha only will be taken up during the programme and that the village leaders, sarpanch and elected representatives of local bodies should decided the needs of the villagers. 

Minister said people should themselves in the Grama Jyoti to convert their villages as model villages like Gangadevipalli in Warangal, Ankapoor in Nizamabad , Mulkanoor in Karimnagar.

Ministers busy honing English language skills

Some of the Ministers in the state are busy in improving their English language and communication skills these days to meet the Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao’s expectations. Some of the Ministers have started learning English language undergoing training by tutor.

During a recent Cabinet meeting, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao reportedly suggested the ministers to have minimum knowledge of English language so that they can communicate better with their officials and speak confidently on subjects related to welfare schemes, development activities initiated by the state government at the international and national forums. 

Minister for forest and environment Jogu Ramanna said “He too realized the importance of having minimum knowledge of English language and communication skills in English for better interaction with people. It felt so particularly during my tours and while attending national and international workshops and conferences”.

Jogu Ramanna said it is true that during the Cabinet meeting, the CM had stressed upon need to have minimum knowledge of English language and English communications skills but added that CM never for once said it is a must.

The minister revealed that he is making efforts to improve his English language and communication skills with the help of a tutor and added he did so before too after being elected as MLA first time in 2009 but could not continue  learning due to time constrains. 

He said he is much more serious this time.It is learnt that some other ministers also making the efforts to improve their English language and communication skills.

Forest wing staff to ride on 'tigers'

Hundreds of roaring ‘Motorbike tigers’ are entering into the forests to chase the wood smugglers away from the forests.

The state government is giving 1,993 motor bikes with tiger symbol on its front to the field level staff that is Deputy FRO, FSO and Beat officers to keep the vigil on the illegal felling of trees and to control wood smuggling in the state. Telangana government is taking steps to strengthen the forest department.   

The motor bikes also have forest department emblem which reads ‘Telangana State Forest’ and ‘Save Forests and Save Nation’ on the engine side.

Scorpio and Innova to the DFOs and Mahindra Thar vehicles to FRO in the forest department will be provided too. Women staffer will be provided with Scootys.

However, no thought has been given by the government on supplying weapons to the forest staff in view of the increased Maoists movements in north Telangana.      

Efforts are being made, however, to extend all possible help to the families of forest staff attacked and killed by the wood smugglers and cases have been registered under PD Act against the wood smugglers.    

Minister for forest and environment Jogu Ramanna said that state government has sanctioned Rs 30 crore to purchase bikes, vehicles. He added that the state government will pay Rs 1,500 towards maintenance of each bike.

He said the move at improving vigilance in the forest areas and national highways and state roads to thwart wood smuggling and illegal felling of trees.

He elaborated that the state government has adopted a adopted multi- pronged strategy including mass plantation of saplings under Haritha Haram and steps to protect the existing forest by controlling the wood smuggling to enhance the forest area in the state.

To bolster confidence and efficiency of forest officials and field level staff involved in controlling wood smuggling, the state is equipping then with vehicles and advanced communication gadgets.

After police department, state government is now taking steps to strengthen the forest department by providing the vehicles to staff of all cadres and advance communication gadgets to control the wood smuggling and indiscriminate felling of trees in order to improve the forest cover.

The move was initiated after finding difficulty faced by field level staff and officials from the wood smugglers.
