Land disputes rise around Mancherial

Land disputes and its related crimes are on the rise in the coal belt area especially in and around the Mancherial town in the wake of state government’s decision to create a new district with Mancherial as its headquarters. 

The land- related disputes are posing threat to the law and order in the coal belt area.  

Many land related disputes are being reported every day and victims are bringing them to the notice of the police. Mancherial police are receiving petitions of land related problems.  

Land value has been increased many fold in and around the Mancherial town following the news that the new district will be created with Mancherial headquarters.
It is found that same land is being sold to many persons with fake documents and some of the lands are landing in legal litigations.

Assistant Superintendent of police, Mancherial S. M Vijay Kumar said they have receiving many land related complaints and added that one plot is being sold more than one person. 

He advised buyers to purchase plots only in the government approved layouts. Buyers should check the documents of survey numbers and Pahani and EC authorization before purchasing any land.

It is found that land related problems are cropping up more also because buyers are registering the lands, plots and applying for patta to the lands they have purchased long back.

Incidents of encroachment of government, private lands and tanks are also on the rise around the Mancherial town these days and land prices are skyrocketing with the creation of new district with Mancherial its headquarters.

Some realtors had support of the local political leaders who invested money in the real estate business pinning hopes of getting huge profits with the escalation of land prices near future if Mancherial was made new district head quarters.

100 tank bunds coming up in TS

Khanapur tank which was encroached upon in Adilabad town. 
State government is developing existing tanks as mini- tank bunds, one each in Assembly Constituency in all the districts under Mission Kakatiya in the Telangana. Arrangements for Bathukamma will be made at mini- tank bunds by next year like at Tank Bund in Hyderabad.

Encroachments will be removed from the existing tanks to develop them as mini- tank bunds as per the government order NO: 86 issued recently.  Revenue and irrigation departments will conduct join survey and submitted the report to the state government. 

The mini tank buds will be completed before the next Bathukamma festival.
The state government has sanctioned ten mini- tank bunds to the Adilabad district under Mission Kakatiya but only six proposals have been submitted so far to the irrigation department. These tank bunds will also be developed as tourist spots and picnic centres.

Khanapur tank in Adilabad town will be developed as mini- tank bund and also Dharmasagar tank in Nirmal town, in Boath and Sirpur (T) before the next Bathukamma.

Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao asked the officials to immediately submit the proposals for the mini- tanks bunds in the 10 Assembly constituencies and said he has received proposals so far for only six mini- tank bunds in the district.

The existing tanks will be developed 6 meeters width, Bathukamma ghats will be constructed, sewerage plant will be set up to clean the polluted water mixing into the tank and added that railing, boating plat form, walking track and statues of important political leaders and prominent persons will be installed, area beatification, entertainment facilities, boundaries, cafeteria at the Khanapur tank in the Adilabad.

The water after purifying and keeping the PH percent in the water at required level will be used for drinking and irrigation purposes and feeder channel from Kummarikunta in Kummariwada will be cleaned which is attached to the Khanapur tank.  

Deputy Engineer of Irrigation Adilabad R. Prathap Singh said they have submitted a proposal to develop the Khanapur tank as mini- tank bund at a cost of Rs 18.86 crore in the Adilabad town.


According to reliable sources, the encroachments in Khanapur tank in the Adilabad will be removed and a walking track will be developed in that places as proposed in the report.

TS to regularise encroached lands

The state government which is reportedly facing financial crisis has intensified regularization of encroached government lands under GO: 59 eyeing on creation of revenue to fill its coffer.

The government has pinned a lot of hopes on revenue generation through regularization of encroached government lands under GO: 59 but has failed to generate revenue expected till now.        

It is said that state government is making serious efforts to increase its revenue from various sources to meet its requirements and allocations.

The applicants are paying remaining amount to regularize their lands under Government order: 59. Revenue officials are checking measurements of the lands of the house owners for which they applied for regularization.

All ready applicants have paid first installment for regularization of their lands. Revenue department will issue pattas soon to the lands after regularization..

B. Venkatesh of Shantinagar in Adilabad town said revenue officials marking rounds of  applicant’s houses who applied for regularization of land and asking them to pay the remaining amount to get regularized their encroached government land’.

He said ‘revenue officials offered five percent concession in the total amount for onetime payment of total amount’.

The state government has issued GO: 58 and 59 with regard to regularization of encroached government lands. The GO: 58 meant for regularization of encroached government land free of cost if it was bellow 125 square yards for the families of bellow poverty line (BPL).

Adilabad Tahsildar A. Subhash Chander said they were conducting an inquiry into the 454 applications they received for regularization of lands in Adilabad mandal rural and urban and added that they have formed eight teams with land surveyor and Deputy Tahsildars. He said pattas will be issued to the lands of eligible applicants after scrutiny.


The Adilabad mandal revenue officials have received above 3,900 applications seeking the regularization of the lands free of cost for BPL families and revenue officials claimed that they had issued pattas to the lands of BPL under land regularization as per the GO.
